Fall is a fun time for families in the Temecula Valley! Throughout the city, you can find pumpkin patches that include rides and other activities for kids to enjoy. There’s the famous corn maze at Big Horse Feed, and of course, there are the events surrounding Halloween. Temecula neighborhoods are open for trick-or-treating, and several churches in Temecula are also opening up their campuses and hosting events.
One such church is Sunridge Church in Temecula. If you’ve never heard of Sunridge Church, it might be because their campus is located a bit off of the beaten path. They are in the industrial area just west of the 15 Freeway on Winchester. This year, the church is hosting a Trunk or Treat event on the evening of Sunday, October 27, 2024. The event is free and open to the public. (Food will be available for purchase, but all of the games and activities are free.)
If you aren’t familiar with a Trunk or Treat event, it’s similar to Trick or Treating, but instead of going from house to house in a neighborhood, kids and parents go from car to car in a parking lot, where they receive candy from the cars’ owners who have festively decorated their trunks. Churches in Temecula, California have been hosting events like this for many years to provide families with a fun and safe alternative to Trick or Treating.
The Trunk or Treat event at Sunridge Church will of course offer Trunk or Treating, but there will also be a variety of games, bounce houses, and other activities for kids to enjoy. Their large campus is perfectly suited for an event like this, with plenty of room for the hundreds of visitors who show up every year.
What makes the Trunk or Treat event at Sunridge Church unique is the time that they dedicate to hosting families with special needs. From 5:30-6:45 PM, the campus is open exclusively to families with children who need an environment that is less crowded and noisy. All of the same games and activities will be open during that time that will be available for the rest of the evening. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with keeping the activities safe for children with varying abilities.
At 6:45, the event will open up to the general public. Kids and parents are welcome to collect candy, play games, jump in the bounce houses, and engage in all of the activities the church has to offer until the event closes at 7:45.
Everyone is welcome, and there are no strings attached! To learn more about Sunridge Church or their Trunk or Treat event, visit the Temecula church’s website.
